A new Tasmanian Government grant program is set to help small businesses unlock their potential through new equipment purchases that improve their productivity and bottom lines.
A key commitment of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, the $1 million Enabling Business Grant Program will provide grants between $2,500 and $10,000 for capital purchases such as machinery, electronic payment terminals and computers.
Releasing the grant guidelines today, Minister for Small Business, Madeleine Ogilvie, said the Tasmanian Government is backing our small businesses so they have the confidence to grow, invest and create jobs.
"Our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future will help Tasmanian businesses take the next step in advancing their operations, and giving them the confidence to innovate and thrive," Minister Ogilvie said.
"We know businesses are busy and don't need any more urgent demands on them, so by releasing the guidelines early we can ensure they have the time to review the eligibility criteria, consider what they may use the grant for, and prepare an application.
Eligibility will be for Tasmanian small businesses registered in Tasmania with fewer than 19 full-time equivalent employees. Small businesses will be asked for a 30 per cent co-contribution towards the purchase price.
"In addition to the $1 million Enabling Business Grant Program, the Tasmanian Government is supercharging its Renewable Energy Dividend, providing a $300 energy credit off their bills, providing energy audits to help businesses become more energy efficient, slashing red tape by introducing single form tendering for all tenders under $250,000 and developing a $400,000 multicultural grant program so support eligible businesses build capability and new skills."
The guidelines for the Enabling Business Grant Program are now available on the Business Tasmania website with applications expected to open in October 2024.
