Amber Muszynski and Elizabeth McDonagh have been selected as The Hills Shire's Youth Ambassadors for 2026-27.
The Youth Ambassador program provides young leaders with the opportunity to advocate for local youth, contribute to Council initiatives, and help shape an inclusive future for the community.
Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne, congratulated the new Youth Ambassadors on their appointment.
"Amber and Elizabeth are impressive young women, and will both bring experience from the leadership positions they hold in their respective school communities," Mayor Byrne said.
"I look forward to hearing their perspectives as representatives for young people in The Hills.
"I would like to extend my sincere thanks to outgoing Youth Ambassadors, Advika Kapoor and Rihanna Soundranayagam, for their outstanding contributions to our community over the past year.
"I wish them every success for their futures and leadership journeys."
Advika and Rihanna said their time as Youth Ambassadors gave them the opportunity to represent young people, develop new skills and contribute to positive change in the community.
"One of the biggest highlights for me was being able to represent young people in our community while also contributing to initiatives and events that genuinely make a positive impact. I especially enjoyed connecting with other passionate young people, developing leadership skills, and having the opportunity to work alongside Council staff and community leaders," Rihanna said.
"What I enjoyed most about the role was having the chance to represent youth perspectives and knowing that my voice could contribute to positive change within the Hills community. I also valued the opportunities to meet new people and hear their varying viewpoints," Advika said.
