The Molong Hockey Field relocation is now all but complete, marking an exciting milestone for the local community and a significant achievement for Cabonne Council.
The project has delivered a high-quality sporting facility, with carpark sealing and line marking finalised, as well as new field lighting installed. The fields are now available for booking through Council's booking system, Bookable, and are already being enjoyed by the Molong Hockey Club for their Pee Wee Hockey Academy and training sessions.
Delivered through the NSW and Australian Government's Community Assets Program, the project highlights Cabonne Council's strong commitment to building back better for the community. From initial planning through to delivery, the relocation represents a significant body of work by Council, reflecting careful coordination, investment, and long-term vision to create a modern, fit-for-purpose facility that will serve the region for years to come.
This outcome has also been supported through strong collaboration with local stakeholders, including the Molong Hockey Club, Molong Show Society , Molong Golf Club, Central West Disc Golf, and the Molong Advancement Group - MAG, helping to ensure the broader precinct meets the needs of the whole community. This project would not have been achievable without their valuable feedback and willingness to adapt, ensuring the fields were located outside the flood zone and safeguarded against future weather events.
Council will continue to enhance the site, with a tender to be released for the construction of dugouts and public amenities, expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Mayor of Cabonne, Kevin Beatty, said the project reflects the power of collaboration alongside Council's dedication to delivering for the community.
"This achievement would not have been possible without the significant consultation between Council and our community groups, who have all played a key role in bringing this project to life," Mayor Beatty said.
"I also want to recognise the hard work and dedication of our Council staff, as well as the strength of our community as we continue our recovery efforts. This is a fantastic outcome that shows what can be achieved when we work together."
