Work has been completed on a major upgrade of the Fortescue Bay boat ramp on the Tasman Peninsula.
The jetty and boat ramp were damaged during a storm event in 2016, and the new structure is designed to better withstand future severe weather events.
The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to making Tasmanians’ lives even better, and this upgrade will ensure improved facilities for the community and visitors to enjoy.
It includes a six-metre extension to the boat ramp and landing stage, and the installation of a lower landing to improve the usability at low tide level.
A kayak-specific ramp has also been installed to assist kayakers.
The work also complements recent improvements to visitor facilities at Fortescue Bay. These include a new amenities block at the Banksia campground and day use shelter with barbecues, picnic tables and seating.
The build was undertaken over winter to limit the amount of inconvenience to users of this popular facility and to avoid the busy peak Summer-Easter period.
