New Metro Station to Reinvigorate North Sydney

The Sydney Business Chamber says the new North Sydney Metro Station will be a world-class development that will ensure the future of the North Sydney business district as a key precinct within Sydney's global economy.

"Victoria Cross Metro Station will include a landmark 40-storey building and upgraded public domain and is an excellent example of strategic land use planning integrating commercial, retail and public transport," said Patricia Forsythe, Executive Director of the Sydney Business Chamber.

"This will secure the future of North Sydney as a crucial part of the Sydney economy and the global economy, and will act as a catalyst for business to invest in the area.

"North Sydney is an important Sydney employment hub and the new metro station and development will further enhance its significance as a business precinct," Mrs Forsythe said.

"Lendlease are to be congratulated for being awarded the $476 million contract to deliver the station component, which will include new retail spaces and improving the public domain.

"The development will have a focus on design excellence and can act as a benchmark for future metro projects across Sydney.

"Developments such as this give Sydney the best chance to achieve the 30-minute city concept where public transport and new job hubs are integrated.

"The value capture agreement between Lendlease and the NSW Government is an exemplar for future transport projects and highlights the role transport infrastructure plays in attracting development and growing the value of the economy," she said.
