A free two-week course in Port Macquarie is offering Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people an opportunity to explore a career in the water industry.
The Aboriginal Pathways: Fresh Start in Water Operations course will run from 14-25 September 2026, providing hands-on learning and an introduction to water operations.
Participants will develop practical skills, learn about the water industry and receive support from experienced trainers and mentors in a culturally safe environment.
Importantly, the course could be the first step towards a career, with more than 10 full-time water industry traineeships planned across Port Macquarie-Hastings, MidCoast and Kempsey councils in 2027.
Participants who successfully complete the course will have the opportunity to apply for these traineeships.
Places are limited to 10 participants.
Applications close Sunday 30 August 2026.
