New Oxfam Australia Chief Executive Appointed 8 October

Oxfam Australia today announced the appointment of Jennifer Tierney as its new Chief Executive.

Ms Tierney will take over from Lyn Morgain, who announced her resignation in February after six years at Oxfam Australia.

Ms Tierney is a passionate leader with more than 20 years of experience in the international humanitarian sector, including more than five years in Executive Director and Chief Executive roles, most recently with Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) Australia.

"It is an immense privilege to have been chosen as Oxfam Australia's next Chief Executive. I'm thrilled to be able to continue my work in the international rights and humanitarian space with a respected organisation with such a track record of impact. I'm looking forward to working alongside Oxfam's team in Australia and its local partners to challenge the inequalities that keep people in poverty."

Oxfam Australia's Board Chair Dr Judith Slocombe AM said the search saw a high calibre of candidates, and it was Ms Tierney's extensive experience in the development and humanitarian sectors that made her the standout choice.

"Oxfam Australia's Board is delighted to welcome Jennifer to the role of Chief Executive. Jennifer brings more than 20 years of experience across the international development and humanitarian sectors. Her deep commitment to social justice, her ability to navigate complex global challenges, and her strong record of strategic leadership made her the outstanding candidate in a very competitive field.

"Jennifer is a values-driven leader who has dedicated her career to advancing social justice and international development. The Board is confident she will bring both the vision and the practical leadership skills needed to guide Oxfam into the future."
