New Park Drive toilets open for use

Horsham Rural City Council has completed works to build a new public toilet block next to the city's skate park.

Construction of the toilets and pathways in Park Drive is now complete and the old brick toilets will soon be demolished.

The old facility has been deemed unsuitable because of its dark corners, blind spots and outdated design.

The new location provides a better connection with the skate park and is more visible for motorists.

HRCC project manager Madelein Van Heerden said the new amenities had been designed with community safety in mind.

"Having the cubicles opening up onto the park basically stops the congregation of people around the toilet block or in the actual toilet block itself," she said.

"Now open for public use, the new facility has been designed to make cleaning easier, increased ventilation and increased brightness, as well as having a disability compliant toilet.

"This is a great community asset and it deserves to be treated with respect by everyone," Ms Van Heerden said.
