New park recognises female pioneer Lillian Bratkovic

Works to build Lillian Bratkovic Park on the corner of Croatia Avenue and Dunkirk Road in Edmondson Park have commenced.

Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said the park was named after a well-known pioneer of Edmondson Park who passed away in 2011.

"Lillian Bratkovic was one of the earliest landowners in the suburb who helped achieve the final release of land in Edmondson Park for development," Mayor Waller said.

The recreational space at Lillian Bratkovic Park will feature:

  • Children's playground including climbing net with slide;
  • Inclusive carousel;
  • Swings and natural play area
  • Picnic shelters and park furniture;
  • Outdoor fitness equipment;
  • Accessible pathways;
  • Tree planting and landscaped gardens.

"Recent statistics indicate more than 67 per cent of couples in Edmondson Park have children, so this is a much-needed recreational space in the growing area.

"Lillian Bratkovic Park will be a place where neighbouring families can conveniently walk to and take their children to play, keep fit, have a picnic or just to get outdoors," Mayor Waller said.

Works are anticipated to be completed by October 2021.
