New Pathways For Local Jobs

Wyndham City has partnered with local education providers and organisations to develop an employment pathway designed to prepare residents for employment in the horticulture and land management industries.

The 'Horticulture and Land Management Pathways Project' is a two-tiered training program facilitated by Wyndham City, AMES Australia and The Gordon Institute of TAFE starting in March.

Education providers, AMES Australia and The Gordon will each run a five-week and ten-week course respectively, to prepare participants with the skills and training necessary for a career in horticulture and land management.

Following successful completion of the courses, graduates can access supported recruitment opportunities with a panel of employers including Parks Victoria, All Green Nursery, Naturelinks and Wyndham City.

Approximately 15 places are being offered for each training program as part of the project and positions are only open to Wyndham residents.

Welcoming City portfolio holder, Cr Jennie Barrera supported the initiative and said the program provided residents with an accessible pathway to employment.

"The project is part of broader work underway that connect Wyndham businesses with local talent and help Wyndham recover from the impacts of Covid-19," Cr Barrera said.

"Council is excited to partner with businesses, local service providers and community to support and develop training programs to upskill residents to be job ready."

"The project connects local businesses with people looking for work and ensures candidates are ready and confident for their new role."

"Wyndham businesses can also save time and money on recruitment and keep jobs local."

"We encourage interested residents to apply for this pathway program!"
