New pedestrian lights for Hoffmans Road Essendon

Vic Department of Transport

New pedestrian operated signals will be installed at a major road in Essendon, with advanced technology ensuring pedestrians have enough time to get across safely.

The new signals will make it easier and safer for people to cross Hoffmans Road, especially students travelling to and from nearby schools.

The new pedestrian operated signals will be installed on Hoffmans Road near the Rosehill Street intersection.

The signals include PUFFIN (pedestrian user-friendly intelligent) crossing technology, which detects people using the crossing and automatically adjusts the green time accordingly, benefiting all pedestrians and cyclists in the area.

New line-marking will also be put in place to improve safety for pedestrians and road users, including those turning into Hoffmans Road.

Works are expected to commence in the coming months and be completed in mid-2022, weather permitting.
