Hobsons Bay's most Insta-worthy locations are set to star in a significant new tourism initiative to get locals and visitors experiencing the city's key attractions.

The Capture Hobsons Bay photography tour is a self-guided journey to inspire people to visit our most interesting and beautiful locations, including our rich coastline and city views, iconic historical facades, and park lands and gardens offering endless angles for the avid photographer or novice alike.

The 'tour guides' for Capture Hobsons Bay are Mandy and Sammi from Mamma Knows West. They've laid out some of their favourite photo spots and provided insider tips for taking pictures like a pro.

The tour is supported by a map, brochure and website. There are 16 locations in all, including the Glassworks Mural and Pumping Station at Scienceworks in Spotswood, Williamstown Botanic Gardens, Cherry Lake in Altona and 100 Steps of Federation in Altona Meadows.

Mayor of Hobsons Bay, Cr Peter Hemphill, said the city had so much to offer.

"We have an incredibly diverse city, from beautiful natural features to rich, historic attractions and this tour is a fantastic way to show it all off to locals and visitors," Cr Hemphill said.

"There are plenty of people from the other side of the West Gate who might not even know we have these fantastic locations, so this offers a great introduction to them and we welcome them to visit.

"The tour's not designed to all be done in one day, just pick a few spots on the map, make a day of it exploring the attractions and the surrounding areas, then plan your next visit. It will be perfect for families looking for new and interesting things to do and see over the school holidays.

"The knowledge Mandy and Sammi have of Hobsons Bay is so extensive, and their passion for photography really shines through in the beautiful and interesting places they've chosen."
