New Police Motorcycles join fleet

Mark Shelton,Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management

Tasmania Police has added four new BMW Police Motorcycles to its fleet as part of the Tasmanian Government's plan to keep Tasmanians safe.

The vehicles will provide a high profile reminder to road users to do the right thing for their own safety and the safety of other road users.

Tasmania Police are equipped with a range of marked and unmarked police vehicles to enforce road safety across our state's highways, rural roads, towns and cities.

These new vehicles begin the replacement of the current fleet of motorcycles, and ten more new BMW police motorcycles will arrive for deployment around the state over May and June.

While we had seen a decrease in the number of serious injury and fatal crashes with people staying at home due to COVID-19 restrictions, sadly we have seen several fatalities in the past week.

I urge all motorists to drive with safety front of mind when on Tasmania's roads.
