New Regional Public Health Plan

Barossa Council

The Councils of Adelaide Plains, Barossa, Gawler, and Light have collaborated to prepare their second Regional Public Health Plan to improve the health and wellbeing of people in the region.

The plan is a legislative requirement of the South Australian Public Health Act 2011.

The preparation of the draft Regional Public Health Plan included research and early stakeholder engagement to identify top regional public health challenges and three regional 'lighthouse' projects, including:

  • Encouraging healthy lifestyles
  • Access and inclusion
  • Improving mental health psychological stress
  • Youth engagement wellbeing
  • Supporting an ageing population

Community, transport, cycling and walking

Regional Project 2

Mental health and suicide prevention

Regional Project 3

Community participation project

Information will be available at Your Voice Gawler, or accessible via each respective council's website (Adelaide Plains Council , The Barossa Council and Light Regional Council) from Wednesday, 9 February 2022.

The Town of Gawler page features a link to an online survey to assist the community in providing feedback.

Feedback is welcomed between Wednesday, 9 February 2022 and close of business on Monday, 7 March 2022.
