First Respiratory Clinic opens in SA to boost COVID-19 response

The first Commonwealth-funded dedicated Respiratory Clinic has opened in the central Adelaide area to support the assessment, testing and diagnosis of South Australians experiencing mild to moderate respiratory symptoms.

GP-led and supported by Adelaide PHN, this is the first of three Respiratory Clinics anticipated for the Adelaide metropolitan region.

Situated in Parkside, the Adelaide Central Respiratory Clinic will support our state's response to COVID-19, build the capacity of our health system, and reduce pressure on hospitals and frontline health workers.

Respiratory Clinics will complement the SA Health-funded COVID-19 clinics, drive-through, and domiciliary testing services already operating across our region.

People experiencing respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat or fatigue can book an appointment via the telephone or online.

Patients will be then allocated an appointment to be assessed by a GP. Onsite testing for COVID-19 will be available for patients meeting the testing criteria.

Patients will be provided initial advice for any condition diagnosed, after which ongoing care will transition back to their usual GP if appropriate.

All Respiratory Clinic services will be provided at no cost to the patient. Standard operation commences from today, Tuesday 14 April, with appointments available Monday to Friday between 8.30am – 4.30pm.

If you are experiencing respiratory symptoms, book an appointment at the Adelaide Central Respiratory Clinic by calling 0401 142 608. Online booking available soon via the hotdoc website and app.
