CottonInfo is excited to announce a new opportunity for a Regional Extension Officer (REO) based in Kununurra WA to help drive innovation and growth in the cotton industry across northern WA and the NT.
This newly created position reflects the rapid expansion of cotton in northern Australia and will play a vital role in connecting research and development (R&D) with on-the-ground practice. The successful candidate will work closely with local growers and consultants to ensure the latest industry insights and innovations are adopted effectively.
What does the role involve?
The REO will deliver CottonInfo extension activities aligned with the CottonInfo Strategic Plan and Annual Operational Plan. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting growers and consultants with practical advice and R&D adoption.
- Coordinating local workshops, field demonstrations and trials to showcase best practice.
- Acting as a feedback loop for industry RD&E, ensuring research delivers real-world impact.
- Building strong relationships with partners including CRDC, Cotton Australia and Cotton Seed Distributors, as well as researchers and innovation brokers.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree in agriculture, agronomy or a related field.
- Experience in agricultural extension, preferably in cotton.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- A willingness to travel across vast distances in northern Australia.
