New Round Of Toll Relief Delivers Summer Budget Boost

NSW Gov

With a new round of claims now open for the $60 weekly toll cap, motorists are being urged to join the thousands of individuals who took advantage of the rebate to start the new year with a boost to their holiday budget.

Eligible customers can now claim their rebates for the final quarter of 2025, with over 35,000 claims submitted in the first two weeks of the year, which is more than double the 15,700 claims made during the entire month of December.

Since the $60 cap was introduced two years ago, more than $215 million has been returned to the bank accounts of NSW motorists with an average payout of $309.

With the new year here, people are encouraged to check their eligibility for the toll relief on the Service NSW website, to ensure they are not missing out.

Toll relief continues to flow to suburbs in Sydney's west and north-west with Blacktown ($3.6 million), Baulkham Hills ($3.4 million), Auburn ($3.2 million) and Merrylands ($3.0 million) in the $3 million club for total rebates paid.

Marsden Park ($2.8 million), Castle Hill ($2.7 million), Quakers Hill ($2.3 million), Lakemba ($2.2 million) and Kellyville ($2.1 million) follow closely behind with another 30 suburbs across Sydney receiving more than $1 million in claims.

The suburbs with the highest average claims per driver are Lakemba ($644), Auburn ($634), Wiley Park ($560), Fairfield East ($539) and Cheltenham ($528).

The Minns Labor Government remains committed to providing relief to motorists who need it most with the $60 weekly toll cap becoming a permanent this year, ensuring drivers will not spend more than $60 a week on tolls for personal toll trips (up to the fair-use limit of $400 per tag/licence plate).

To ensure no misuse of the toll cap, a $5,000 annual limit also introduced.

To claim the $60 weekly toll cap or for more information, visit the Service NSW website, head into a Service NSW Centre or call 13 77 88 for assistance with the rebate calculated and claimed each quarter.

Minister for Transport John Graham said:

"This reaction shows just how much Sydney drivers need the toll cap and why it was so important the government made this cost-of-living relief permanent.

"I want to thank the 35,000 people who got their life admin off to a great start in 2026 by signing up for this important support.

"This is all about fairness across Sydney. For drivers who need to take motorways and have no other choice but to clock up the tolls, we're putting a cap on it so they can balance the family budget and not be penalised for where they live.

"Along with the toll cap bringing back fairness to our motorways, we're continuing the direct deal negotiations to extract more value for motorists and taxpayers."

Minister for Customer Service Jihad Dib said:

"You can now claim rebates for every quarter of your toll spend from last year so if you're regularly travelling on toll roads, I encourage you to visit the Service NSW website to make a claim.

"This time of year can be especially challenging as holiday spending adds up, so this is your chance to claim the new round of rebates waiting to be returned to you.

"With the average claim amount being more than $300, it could be a welcome boost to your household budget and a great way to start 2026."
