New Rowing Course To Undergo Commissioning

Rowing on the Fitzroy River.JPG

Starting 1 September, Rockhampton Regional Council will begin a four-week commissioning process to install and secure the new 2000m eight-lane buoyed rowing course.

Staff will assess and adjust the course, and ensure it's stable, safe and fit for purpose.

The course will not be available for public or training use during this time. It will be removed at the end of September ahead of the wet season.

The arrival of the replacement course follows Council's endorsement of the Fitzroy River Rowing Action Plan in January this year.

Council is also reviewing its Rowing Course Installation and Removal Policy to ensure a safe and sustainable service model and will provide further updates as we progress the next steps in the action plan.

We appreciate the community's patience while works are underway.
