Small business is one of Tasmania’s key drivers of jobs and investment growth and we will further strengthen the sector and boost our economy through a new Tasmanian Business Growth Strategy 2018-2023.
The draft strategy, developed in consultation with Tasmanian small business, has now been released for comment.
This strategy sets a framework for the way government and business work together for the good of Tasmania and Tasmanians across a sector that already comprises some 37 000 local businesses.
Our vision is to work with businesses to build a stronger economy by creating a competitive business environment strengthened by services, market information and a skilled workforce that supports innovation and growth and creates jobs.
It will build on the current high levels of local business confidence, take advantage of emerging opportunities in our growing economy, and ensure government policies are aligned with business and industry goals.
We have consulted widely with the business community and we have listened to what businesses have told us they need to best support their success, the key challenges impacting on their capacity to grow, and the role government needs to play.
The strategy is a partnership between business and government through the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Tasmanian Small Business Council.
