New Suburb For Melbourne's Outer North

VIC Premier

The Allan Labor Government is unlocking a brand-new community in Melbourne's growing outer north - with thousands of new homes, job opportunities and green open space for families to enjoy.

Minister for Planning Sonya Kilkenny has approved the Beveridge North West Precinct Structure Plan - paving the way for 15,000 new homes, four town centres, eight schools and 13 MCGs' worth of parks and reserves.

Once all stages are complete, Beveridge North West will be home to more than 47,000 Victorians and support nearly 3,000 local jobs - with everything families need close to home, including five community hubs, local shopping options and new cycling and pedestrian links.

In total, more than 320 hectares of land will be set aside for waterways, landscaping and drainage - including 79 hectares of dedicated parks and sports fields to keep the community active and connected to nature.

The plan will be delivered in stages - with around 2,400 homes to be built across 140 hectares from gazettal, and future stages to begin once the fully funded Camerons Lane interchange is complete. This will ensure new residents are connected to key infrastructure and integrated with surrounding communities.

A new quarry will also be established in line with strict planning controls - including a buffer zone and mandatory closure and rehabilitation deadline of 2052 - helping support the supply of building materials for more homes and infrastructure across the state.

The Beveridge North West Precinct Structure Plan forms part of the Labor Government's 10-year greenfields plan - providing the space and completing the planning work to deliver 180,000 new homes over the next decade.

All up, the 10-year plan represents the longest ever pipeline of new land in greenfield areas, so growing families can have more opportunities for a home, backyard and community.

Works on the Beveridge North West Precinct Structure Plan Stage One can begin after it is gazette on Tuesday, 5 August. For more information, visit vpa.vic.gov.au/project/beveridge-north-west.
