New talent sweeps seniors off their feet at NSW Seniors Festival

Thousands of seniors have flocked to the ‘Love Your Life’ NSW Seniors Festival in Sydney to enjoy an all-new lineup of entertainment and activities.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Minister for Ageing Tanya Davies today joined the crowds at Darling Harbour to officially open the Premier’s Gala Concert Series and Seniors Expo.

"We love our wonderful seniors and I have no doubt that the talent on show at the gala concerts, the expo entertainment, and the fresh exhibits on offer this year will bring so much joy to them," Ms Berejiklian said.

"The NSW Liberals & Nationals are proud to support our seniors and thank them for invaluable years of service and involvement in our communities - they are the back bone of our great State’s success."

Mrs Davies said the 2019 festival theme ‘Love Your Life’ would resonate through hundreds of events and activities held in Sydney and regional NSW over the next 10 days, with more than 120 funded by the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government.

"The Festival gives local communities everywhere the opportunity to have some fun and bring seniors together," Mrs Davies said.

Australian entertainers Marina Prior, Casey Donovan and country singer Adam Brand feature in the concert series at the International Convention Centre Sydney today and tomorrow, while much-loved TV personality Dr Harry Cooper will make his debut on the Expo entertainment stage along with Rock ‘n’ Roll favourite Lonnie Lee.

Mrs Davies said the Seniors Expo displays 60 interactive exhibits on food, health and lifestyle, such as the RSPCA, travel advice agencies, golfing tips from Golf NSW, free health checks, and games and giveaways.

"If you’re not in Sydney there are hundreds of events to get involved with across the State, so jump on the festival website and find out what’s near you," Mrs Davies said.

The NSW Seniors Festival is the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and runs until February 24.
