The COVID-19 vaccine rollout is set to reach more South Australians in the north and south of Adelaide, with the Marshall Liberal Government confirming it will establish two additional vaccination hubs at Elizabeth and Noarlunga.
The Playford Civic Centre in Elizabeth and the old Masters site at Noarlunga will be transformed into vaccination hubs by early June.
Both sites are anticipated to be dedicated Pfizer facilities, pending sufficient supply from the Commonwealth.
Premier Steven Marshall said more than 100,000 South Australians had now been vaccinated through the rollout and numbers will scale up with the opening of more clinics.
"Giving all South Australians access to the COVID-19 vaccination is a vital part of keeping South Australia safe and strong in response to the pandemic, and that is why we are continuing to step up the roll out of more hubs across the state," said Premier Marshall.
"Following meetings with the Commonwealth yesterday, we now have more clarity on projected vaccine supplies for additional clinics in South Australia.
"This means that planning for clinics at the Playford Civic Centre and the old Masters site at Noarlunga can progress and we expect both these sites to be established and getting jabs in arms by early June. If supplies permit they will be activated earlier.
"These two hubs will play a critical role in ensuring a safe and effective vaccine rollout across South Australia."
Minister for Health and Wellbeing Stephen Wade said the two sites, along with the upcoming establishment of hubs at the Adelaide Showgrounds, Port Lincoln, Mount Gambier and Kangaroo Island, will scale up the state's rollout to reach even more South Australians.
"Opening these two hubs, along with the other clinics being planned, shows the agility of our health teams in responding to the latest health advice and the needs of our community," said Minister Wade.
"The level of vaccination in South Australia is closely aligned to our share of the population and opening more clinics across the state will help us to further scale up this rollout.
"A community vaccination clinic will open in Port Lincoln on Monday, at the Port Lincoln Aboriginal Community Council, before moving to a bigger site at the Port Lincoln Bowls Club from 27 April. The clinic will focus on vaccinating adults aged over 70 years of age and Aboriginal adults aged over 55 years of age as part of Phase 1B.
"Our vaccination clinic at Wayville Showgrounds is set to open on Friday 30 April to provide vaccinations to up to 3,000 people each week in Phase 1B, initially from the health and emergency sector who are under 50 years old.
"We also continue our work to establish a community clinic at Mount Gambier and are sending a vaccination team to Kangaroo Island.
"We will continue to assess and investigate how the State Government can best support the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine across South Australia to ensure that every South Australian has access to the vaccine."
The COVID-19 vaccine rollout across South Australia is being undertaken in line with the Commonwealth Government's Vaccine Roadmap.
