From today (1 July 2021), the changed funding arrangements for the new Volunteer Management Activity (VMA) have commenced with State and Territory volunteering peak bodies. The new five year model will focus on developing and implementing strategies to build the capacity of volunteer involving organisations.
Initiatives include online volunteer management services, and breaking down barriers to volunteering for identified priority groups (people with disability; First Nation peoples and newly arrived migrants).
Peak bodies across Australia will partner with other services to support the new VMA program to increase and strengthen volunteer participation.
For the first year in Western Australia, these services include: Broome Circle, Geraldton Centacare, Peel Volunteer Resource Centre, Volunteer South West, Esperance Volunteer Resource Centre and Albany Regional Volunteer Service.
