New Webpage Showcases First Nations Climate Action

Dept of Climate Change, Energy, Environment & Water

We've launched a new First Nations Climate Action webpage. It brings together climate action First Nations people are delivering in partnership with the Department.

First Nations people have cared for Country for over 65,000 years. Their deep knowledges of land, water and the ocean help us understand how to care for the environment today. This knowledge is vital as we tackle, and face the impacts of, climate change. First Nations leadership is key to finding strong, fair solutions.

This new page is a place to:

  • Learn how First Nations communities are leading climate and energy work.
  • See how we are working with Traditional Owners and knowledge holders.
  • Explore programs that support self-determination, clean energy and climate resilience.
  • Find out how First Nations people are shaping decisions here and overseas.

This page brings together strategies, partnerships and programs which highlight that First Nations people are at the heart of Australia's climate response.
