Newspapers destroyed, NSW

Police are investigating after hundreds of newspapers were destroyed when they were scattered across New South Head at Double Bay about 1.30am today (12 June 2016), NSW Police say.

Police from Rose Bay Local Area Command arrived to find vehicles had hit the piles of newspapers, which by then were covering four lanes of New South Head Road over a distance of 50m-80m.

Police believe the newspapers had been taken from outside the newsagent nearby and deliberately placed on the roadway; the value of the papers destroyed has been estimated at $900.

Investigators are examining CCTV of a group of youths recorded in the area at the time.

Anyone with information, or who may know the identity of those involved, is asked to call Rose Bay Police or Crime Stopers.
