Next round of Correctional Officer recruitment opens

Elise Archer,Minister for Corrections

Recruitment is now underway for up to 30 Correctional Officers within the Tasmania Prison Service as part of the Hodgman Liberal Government's commitment to keeping Tasmanians safe.

This is the latest round of recruitment in a program which has seen 94 Correctional Officers recruited since May 2016.

To be successful, candidates must pass a rigorous five-stage recruitment process, including computer-based written and psychological profiling, role suitability evaluations, an interview, a health and fitness assessment and a criminal history check.

Successful applicants will be provided with 13 intensive weeks training, both in the classroom and on the job before formally commencing work within the system.

The recruitment drive comes as the Hodgman Liberal Government opens a tender for the managing contractor of the $70 million Southern Remand Centre as part of our $340 million election commitment to fix Tasmania's ageing prison system.
