Nicholson armed robbery

East Gippsland Criminal Investigation Unit detectives are hoping to identify a man following an armed robbery at a general store in Nicholson last week.

Police have been told the man entered a store on the Princes Highway on 19 January at 10.20am where he threatened two female staff members with a machete.

He made his way to the cash register and stole cash before fleeing.

The offender was last seen driving eastbound towards Lakes Entrance in a white Holden Jackaroo four-wheel drive with no registration plates.

The male is described as 177cm tall and was wearing a black hoodie with a long cream jacket over the top, sunglasses, filter facemask and disposable gloves.

Police have released an image of the Jackaroo in the hope that someone will recognise the vehicle.

Any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
