LONDON - Today, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Niels Peter Thomas as CEO, BMJ Publishing, effective today 15 April 2026.
Niels will lead BMJ Group's global publishing activities, including The BMJ and a portfolio of nearly 70 specialty journals, alongside our Events, Careers, and Learning businesses. He joins with over 20 years' international leadership experience from the Springer Group, most recently at Springer Nature where he oversaw the world's largest academic books programme.
His appointment reflects our continued focus on strengthening global impact, advancing digital innovation, and supporting the communities we serve with trusted evidence and expertise.
