NISTA Chair's Term Extended

Sir John Armitt will serve as Chair of the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority's Expert Advisory Council until the end of 2025.

The Chief Secretary to the Treasury Darren Jones has extended the appointment of Sir John Armitt as the Chair of the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority's (NISTA) Expert Advisory Council (EAC).

Sir John Armitt's appointment has been extended for six months (until 31 December 2025) to support the implementation of the 10 Year Infrastructure Strategy . He has been Chair of NISTA's EAC since April 2025, before which he was the Chair and a commissioner of the National Infrastructure Commission since its formation in 2015 until its closure to form NISTA.

About the Appointment Process

Sir John Armitt's appointment extension follows the provisions of his original appointment, having met the required performance standards and with the agreement of ministers.

The chair role is a non-executive part-time position, and he has not undertaken any political activity within the previous five years including donating to, or canvassing on behalf of, any political party.
