No Sense Of Direction For Drug Driver

Running a red light is a bad and dangerous idea at the best of times, let alone when driving unlicensed and under the influence of drugs.

Westgate Highway Patrol officers spotted a black Holden Commodore sedan driving through a red light on Francis Street in Brooklyn about 10.30pm.

The vehicle was pulled over and it is alleged the driver, a 35-year-old Bacchus Marsh man, was found to be unlicensed.

It is also alleged the driver claimed he ran the red light to rush his passenger to a local hospital… despite the hospital being in the opposite direction.

The driver then allegedly tested positive to an oral fluid test indicating drugs in his system.

The Holden was impounded at a cost of $999.52.

The alleged driver is expected to be charged on summons with running a red light, drug driving and driving unlicensed related offences.
