Residents are advised that HMAS Moreton will be hosting a Military Service Funeral this week. As part of the service and the ceremonial preparations, community members may hear controlled gunfire from the base.
The firings will involve three blank cartridges at each scheduled time. These blanks are part of formal military traditions and training, and there is no risk to the community. Queensland Police (QPOL) have been notified of the timings.

Wednesday, 20 August 2025 – 1:00 pm
Friday, 22 August 2025 – 10:30 am and 1:30 pm
The Defence Force has assured the public that all activity is conducted safely, and the sounds, while loud, are not a cause for concern.
