Georges River Council is pleased to share that nominations for The Centre for Volunteering's 2026 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards are now open.
The NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards is one of the largest annual programs that celebrate volunteers in NSW.
Council values the incredible volunteers who dedicate their time to our community. Their efforts strengthen community connections and enrich local life.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, "Volunteers are at the heart of Georges River.
"In 2024, Penshurst resident Tanima Banerjee was recognised as the Southern Sydney Adult Volunteer of the Year. She was nominated for her dedication to supporting local wellbeing, providing educational assistance and fundraising for cancer research.
"Stories like hers show the impact volunteers have across our community.
