City of Logan's superheroes might not wear capes, but they are super fast, strong and skilled.

Our sporting heroes will be celebrated at the 2021 City of Logan Sports Awards in October.

The event will be the first time the City of Logan's elite sportspeople have gathered since 2019, after the cancellation of the last year's ceremony due to pandemic restrictions.

Nominations for the 2021 awards open today.

City Lifestyle Chair Councillor Laurie Koranski said the annual City of Logan Sports Awards are an important tradition.

"It is an honour to host our City's elite athletes and sportspeople at our annual Sports Awards," Cr Koranski said.

"Our sporting stars are an inspiration and it is so important to recognise their outstanding achievements.

"I urge anyone who knows someone who has excelled in their sporting field in the last year to nominate them for consideration."

Past winners of City of Logan Sports Awards include rugby league international and former Bronco Corey Parker, Supercars driver Chad Mostert, world junior champion decathlete Ashley Moloney, boxer Clay Waterman and Korean sword sport (haidong gumdo) prodigy Tara Billington.
