Who inspires you? Who do you know who works tirelessly to create, innovate and support the community? If you know someone who contributes work at a high standard of excellence, let your voice be heard and nominate them for the City of Wollongong Awards.
The City of Wollongong Awards are proud to recognise the work of outstanding community members and groups that make our city a better place. Old, young, artists and scientists alike all deserve a chance to be highlighted for their exemplary work.
"Wollongong is home to so many amazing people, each doing their part to create a better world for not only themselves but for everyone who is touched or impacted by their efforts and ideas," Lord Mayor of Wollongong Councillor Tania Brown said.
"These are people who charge forward, who use their time, passion and energy to inspire change and support others. We are lucky to have an overabundance of such individuals and groups in our community, and it's an honour for me to present these awards."
Last years Citizen of the Year award was given to Malika Elizabeth Reese, for her incredible contributions to our community.
As an artist and advocate, she combined her creative passions and her community service to great effect, tirelessly campaigning for victim-survivors of violence and using her storytelling skills to educate and inspire compassion.
These awards are an opportunity to recognise great work done by people not often highlighted, and there are a variety of awards to submit candidates for, including:
- Citizen of the Year
- Senior Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Sustainability and Environmental Achievement Award
- Arts and Cultural Achievement Award
- Sports Achievement Award
- Innovation Achievement Award
- Community Group of the Year
- Diversity and Inclusion Award
