Nominations open for Police Officer of Year

The Rotary Club of Darwin is calling for nominations from the public for the 2021 NT Police Officer of the Year.

Deputy Commissioner Michael Murphy APM said, "We all know that the last year or so has seen unprecedented demands on our police officers as we have had to incorporate many new services in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Some officers have moved into roles they never imagined undertaking; others picked up additional duties, and certainly most of our police officers have gone above and beyond in their service to Territorians.

"I encourage anyone who knows an outstanding police officer who embodies the spirit of this award - who shows courtesy, compassion, kindness, courage, understanding or devotion to duty - to nominate them for the 2021 award."

Nomination forms are available online at www.darwinrotary.com

This award is run entirely independently of the NT Police, Fire and Emergency Services. We deeply appreciate the Rotary Club of Darwin for creating and maintaining this award and supporting the Northern Territory Police.

Nominations close on 1 August 2021, with the recipient to be announced and awarded on Thursday 26 August 2021 at Government House by Her Honour the Honourable Vicki O'Halloran AO, Administrator of the Northern Territory.
