A million-dollar road project will improve safety in Terang and increase efficiency for transport businesses.

Corangamite Shire Council Manager John Kelly said the project was one of the key initiatives in the "quality infrastructure and community connections" strategic objective of the Council Plan 2025-2029.

"Noogee Road is currently a narrow 3.9 m sealed road connecting Terang Framlingham Road in the north to the Princes Highway in the south on the west side of Terang. It was identified from our road condition assessments that the road required rehabilitation.

"In addition to the rehab works, we propose to widen Noogee Road to a 6.2 m sealed road to make it safer for two-way traffic.

"The Budget for the works is $971,000.

"The project is fully funded by the Federal Government's Roads to Recovery program."

Works started on Tuesday 10 February and are expected to be completed in about six weeks, depending on weather conditions and any circumstances beyond Council's control.

Speed reduction will be in place during these works & delays are to be expected.
