The world's best professional surfers will descend on North Narrabeen Beach for the next 10 days to compete in the second round of the World Surf League from 16-26 April.
Competing for prize money of over $1 million, over 50 top surfers will do battle on Sydney's most consistent and high-quality beach break.
With North Narrabeen Beach not hosting a professional surfing event since the late 1990s, Mayor Michael Regan extended a warm welcome to all the competitors and support crews.
"We are very excited to be co-sponsoring this prestigious event with the State Government at what has been described as the spiritual home of professional surfing in Australia," Mayor Regan said.
"This event is a great feather in the cap for the Northern Beaches, injecting about $15 million into the local economy and showcasing its extraordinary beaches to visitors and television audiences around the world.
"I look forward to seeing some great waves and hot competition from the surfing élite."
No tickets are required for attending the Rip Curl Narrabeen Classic, however taking into consideration the current NSW Health Orders and to ensure community safety the event has a limited capacity. Once this has been reached no further spectators will be permitted into the event.
