NPWS Hazard Reduction Burn In Wollemi National Park |

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), with assistance from the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS), is undertaking a large hazard reduction burn in the Spring Creek area of Wollemi National Park starting today Monday 30 March.

The 1100 hectares burn south of Jerrys Plains on the rugged north-eastern part of Wollemi is part of the ongoing burn plan throughout the park.

The aim of the burn is to help reduce the spread of bushfires in Wollemi National Park and improve protection of neighbouring properties while maintaining biodiversity.

The favourable autumn weather conditions provide a critical opportunity for fuel reduction burning.

NPWS along with neighbours and other agencies has numerous prescribed burns, including cultural burns, planned across NSW.

For their safety, the public should not enter closed areas while the operation is underway.
