National Rugby League is set to return to Jubilee Stadium for an action-packed Witzer Pre-Season Challenge double-header on Saturday 7 February 2026.
The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs will face off against the North Queensland Cowboys, setting the stage for our local St George Illawarra Dragons to take on the Newcastle Knights in the following match.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, "The Pre-Season Double-Header marks the return of top-flight rugby league to Georges River for the 2026 season.
"Events like this showcase our region and highlight the power of sport to bring the community together.
"I encourage everyone to come along, support the Dragons, and be part of this exciting day."
Mayor Borg also highlighted recent changes aimed at making Jubilee Stadium more financially accessible for the broader community.
"Jubilee Stadium is available for community hire, and Council has taken steps to make access more affordable and transparent for local users.
"In November 2025, Council introduced the Sports Ground Access Policy and updated the Grants and Donations Policy. These policies help reduce financial
barriers and provide clearer pathways for local clubs, schools and community groups to access high-quality facilities.
"These changes ensure our community can continue to enjoy elite sporting events while also having greater opportunity to consider hosting their own activities at this iconic venue."
