Everyone in Hay will have the chance to play soon, thanks to more than $750,000 in NSW Government funding to build an inclusive playground at Hay Park.
Planning and Public Spaces Minister Rob Stokes said construction is underway on a new playground at Hay’s central park that everyone will be able to enjoy – regardless of age or ability.
“Hay Park is already a fantastic recreational space for residents and visitors to Hay and this new incluisive playground is exactly what this community wants and needs – a space that will be accessible and enjoyable for all,” Mr Stokes said.

“This playground is also a great demonstration of our dedication to working with our colleagues in local government to support inclusive and vibrant spaces for the whole community.
“High quality inclusive play spaces are just as important in our country towns as in metropolitan areas, which is why we are ensuring that funding is shared across the state.”
Mr Stokes said the playground has received funding through the Stronger Country Communities fund and will also be one of the first to be delivered through the NSW Government’s Everyone Can Play initiative.
“Hay Shire Council is one of 30 Councils across NSW that will benefit from nearly $4 million in funding to upgrade or build more accessible play spaces for their communities.
“Access to quality open space is so important to local communities by providing places for them to relax, and spend time with family and friends.
“It’s great to see so many councils take advantage of the opportunity to create wonderful play spaces for their communities,” he said.
Hay Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Bill Sheaffe said the Council is working with the NSW Government to provide a great outdoor space for everyone.
“We’ve provided an additional $40,000 to deliver this new inclusive playspace, which will include nature play, a sensory garden, swings, slides, seating and shade,” Mr Sheaffe said.
