Camden Council has welcomed the NSW Government's announcement of more than $35
million for land acquisition, planning and design to support the delivery of vital schools and
road connections in the Camden area.
The funding includes:
- $20 million for land acquisition to support future schools in the Southwest Growth
Area;
- $9.5 million for land acquisition towards the Rickard Road-Ingleburn Road
intersection upgrade at Leppington; and
- $6 million for planning and design of the Raby Road and Devonshire Road
extension at Leppington.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney, stated the announcement supported Council's
The Time Is Now campaign priorities.
"We know our area is growing at one of the fastest rates in the country. This growth must
be matched with timely investment in schools and road upgrades," she said.
"This announcement is an important recognition of what Council has been saying for some
time - that the time is now to fund the essential infrastructure that underpins liveability and
ensures our community has access to quality education and efficient transport
connections.
