NSW Touch has confirmed Dubbo will host the 2027 NSW Touch Junior State Cup Northern Conference.
Dubbo Regional Council has hosted the past four events and had recently submitted a bid for the next three years.
NSW Touch Association announced today they had made a decision to hold the conference in Dubbo for another year, with the future beyond still undecided.
DRC Mayor Josh Black said it was another win for the region.
"Hosting this event for the fifth year in a row reinforces Dubbo as a major regional sporting destination when it comes to tournaments such as this one.
"Each year the Junior State Cup has injected significant monies into our economy during a month when it is historically quiet for the region. This year alone we had over 10,000 visitors to the region with an economic impact for Dubbo and surrounding towns and villages estimated at over $8.5M by Tourism Australia," Clr Black said.
The 2026 event involved 222 junior touch football teams from across the northern part of the state including areas of Sydney Metropolitan, Western NSW, North West NSW, Central Cost, Hunter, Mid North Coast and the North Coast of NSW.
Each year there is a lot of work behind the scenes as Council staff work closely with the Dubbo Touch Football Association to prepare the city and the grounds for the event.
"We value the strong partnership we have built with NSW Touch and appreciate their confidence in returning the Junior State Cup to Dubbo for another year," Clr Black said.
"Putting the Dubbo Region's best foot forward is what we can all do to support this event. It's the team Dubbo approach that demonstrates to our coastal counterparts we can host major sporting events really well in the country.
"Council staff are committed to delivering a high-quality experience for the young athletes, families, officials and visitors," Clr Black said.
In 2027 Council will continue to assist the event by providing high level support including preparation of fields, traffic management, assistance with marketing and promotion of the event, along with providing assistance with accommodation availability.
The event has been secured under DRC's Event Attraction Program and strongly supported by Dubbo Touch Association.
The event will be held at the Lady Cutler Sporting Precinct in Dubbo from 26 to 28 February 2027.
