NSW latest coronavirus data as at 22 April

As at 8pm, Tuesday 21 April 2020, an additional five cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed since 8pm 20 April, bringing the total to 2,971.

During that time, 4,291 people were tested, up from 2,502 the 24 hours before.

Three cases previously reported in the NSW totals have now been excluded after further testing, reflecting an adjusted overall total of 2,971 confirmed cases.

There have been three further deaths related to COVID-19 in NSW bringing the total number of deaths to 33. Those details are:

  • A 75 year old man who passed away in St George Hospital and was a household contact of a known case.
  • An 80 year old woman who passed away in Gosford Hospital with pre-existing medical conditions who was part of the Gosford Hospital cluster.
  • A 92 year old woman who was a resident of Anglicare Newmarch House at Caddens and who is the third death at that facility.

NSW Health expresses its condolences to the respective families.

There have now been 1,926 people that have recovered from COVID-19 in NSW.

There are currently 231 COVID-19 cases being treated by NSW Health. This includes 20 people being treated in Intensive Care Units, with 16 of those requiring ventilators.

There have been no new COVID-19 cases at Anglicare Newmarch House.

Anyone living or working in areas where community transmission has been identified in NSW who is feeling unwell with a fever, cough or other symptoms of COVID-19 should get tested.

Areas of concern for community transmission in NSW are listed on the NSW Health website. This week the focus areas include the LGA areas of Blacktown, Canada Bay, Cumberland, Goulburn Mulwaree, Inner West, Liverpool, Parramatta, Penrith, Randwick, Ryde, Waverley and Woollahra.

NSW Health is alerting passengers who were close contacts of cases on flights to monitor for symptoms, and contact their GP, (call ahead before visiting), or call healthdirect on 1800 022 222, or visit a NSW Health COVID-19/Flu assessment clinic should they become unwell.
