The NSW Government has strengthened its relationship with Maharashtra, home to one of India's biggest economic centres, enabling new opportunities for trade, investment, innovation and skills collaboration.
Premier Chris Minns met with Chief Minister of Maharashtra, The Hon Shri Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai on Wednesday, where the leaders signed a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to continue and expand the existing sister-state relationship between NSW and Maharashtra.
The renewed agreement will focus on clean energy, advanced manufacturing, technology, critical minerals and mining expertise, as well as education and skills.
The agreement reinforces the close relationship between NSW and Maharashtra, India's second-most populous state, and supports the NSW Trade and Investment Strategy 2035 by strengthening government-to-government ties in a priority market.
It provides a framework for government, business, research and education institutions to pursue partnerships that generate new trade and investment opportunities in areas of mutual interest.
The renewed partnership builds on more than a decade of practical collaboration, including vocational education projects, water management initiatives, cultural exchanges and business engagement.
