NSW man charged after indecent assaults

A man who was arrested and charged by Police Transport Command officers last month has been charged with nine further acts of indecency after police conducted a forensic examination of his mobile phone, NSW Police say.

About 6.15pm on Thursday 24 March 2016, a 28-year-old woman was on board a train between Strathfield and Burwood Railway Stations when a man sat next to her and began to conduct an indecent act while filming it.

The woman reported the matter to police and an investigation commenced by police attached to Police Transport Command North West.

Just after 7.30pm on Thursday 12 May 2016, Police Transport Command police were travelling on a train at Parramatta Railway Station when they identified the man.

The 52-year-old man was arrested after a short struggle, and it is alleged he was again exposing himself. During the arrest police seized the man’s mobile phone.

An initial examination of the phone allegedly depicted approximately 1400 images of child abuse material and a number of videos recording the man’s indecent acts on the transport network.

The man was charged with two counts of act of indecency and possess child abuse material.

He was bailed to appear in Parramatta Local Court on 15 June 2016.

Following a full forensic examination of the man’s mobile phone, the man has now been charged with nine further act of indecency offences, all allegedly committed on the Sydney Rail Network.

The man remains on conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on 13 July 2016.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
