NSW man charged and firearms seized

A man will face court today charged over alleged firearm and drug possession in Sydney's south west, NSW Police say.

About 9.30am yesterday, police from the State Crime Command's Firearm Squad, with the assistance of the Tactical Operations Unit, executed a search warrant at a home on Gamboola Way, Airds.

During the search, officers located and seized a shortened 12 gauge single-barrelled shotgun, shotgun cartridges, an airsoft pistol, methylamphetamine, two double edged swords, mobile telephones, and power tools, which are suspected of being stolen.

A small snake was also seized from the home.

A 42-year-old man was arrested at the location and taken to Campbelltown Police Station.

He was charged with possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, possess unregistered prohibited firearm, possess unauthorised firearm, possess unregistered firearm (pistol), possess ammunition and possess prohibited drug.

He has been refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court later today
