NSW man charged with disseminating child abuse material

A man has been charged with disseminating child abuse material after being arrested by police in Sydney’s west, NSW Police say.

Earlier this month, Fairfield detectives commenced an investigation after receiving a tip off from the Queensland Police Service about the online activities of a man.

Police will allege a number of images depicting child abuse material were disseminated online.

Earlier today, officers attended a home in Tyrell Crescent, Fairfield West, where they arrested a 39-year-old man.

A search warrant was conducted at the premises with police seizing laptops and portable storage devices. All items seized will undergo further examination.

The man was taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with disseminate child abuse material.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Monday 29 August 2016.

The NSW Police Force works closely with its law enforcement colleagues interstate and overseas to investigate child exploitation.

Regular covert online investigations are also conducted by the Sex Crimes Squad’s Child Exploitation Internet Unit.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to child exploitation this incident to call Crime Stopers.
