NSW man dies after being hit while changing tyre

Police are investigating after a man was hit while changing a tyre on the road near Coolah, NSW Police say.

About 5.40pm yesterday, emergency services were called to Blackbutts Way, 85km south of Coonabarabran, following reports of a crash.

Initial investigations suggest a 52-year-old Castle Cove man was attempting to change the tyre of his red Holden station wagon when he was allegedly struck by a maroon Ford Falcon sedan.

He later died at hospital.

Officers from the Northern Tablelands Crash Investigation Unit attended the home and arrested the 51-year-old man.

He was taken to Coolah Hospital for mandatory blood and urine analysis.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
