NSW police appeal after suspicious fire at chapel near Maitland

Police are appealing for public information as they continue to investigate a suspicious fire in the state’s Hunter Region, NSW Police say.

About 3am (Saturday 10 November 2018), emergency services were called to a chapel on New England Highway, Lochinvar, about 11km from Maitland, after reports of a fire.

Firefighters attended and extinguished the fire but there was significant internal damage.

A crime scene was established and forensically examined.

Officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District are investigating the fire as suspicious and are appealing for public information.

Anyone with information or that saw suspicious activity in the area is urged to contact police via Crime Stoppers.
