NSW police appeal after suspicious fire

Police are appealing for public assistance following a suspicious unit fire at Port Macquarie yesterday.

Emergency services were called to a unit on Gordon Street about 6.40am yesterday (Sunday 3 March 2019), following reports of a fire.

Initial attempts to combat the blaze were made by bystanders before Fire & Rescue NSW arrived and extinguished it.

The unit sustained extensive smoke damage and some structural damage. There was no damage to surrounding property.

No injuries were reported, and the unit was unoccupied at the time.

Officers from Mid North Coast Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.
